In-home & Community-based ABA Therapy in the Greater Cleveland, Medina, & Akron, Ohio Areas

Functional Behavior Assessment

At SparkJoy ABA, we specialize in providing comprehensive Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) services for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Our dedicated team of professionals utilizes evidence-based ABA principles to systematically analyze and understand the function of challenging behaviors exhibited by individuals on the autism spectrum. The function of a behavior is simply defined as determining why that behavior is occurring. This guides intervention so that targeted interventions are able to most accurately address the challenging behavior and any replacement behaviors (more appropriate ways to meet the individual’s need) that are to be taught. The FBA process involves thorough observation, data collection, and analysis to identify the underlying causes of specific behaviors. By uncovering the purpose or function of these behaviors, we can tailor personalized behavior intervention plans that target the core issues.
We conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) as part of our assessment process when a maladaptive behavior is interfering and needs to be addressed, but we can also conduct a FBA when it is necessary at any point during the treatment process. Further, we offer stand-alone Functional Behavior Assessment services to our community partners, such as educational settings, requesting this service.
